Family and criminal law can intersect in various ways, such as:

  • When one spouse or partner accuses the other of domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, stalking, harassment, or other crimes.
  • When one spouse or partner is arrested or convicted of a crime that affects the other spouse’s rights or interests in divorce, property division, alimony, child custody, child support, or protective orders.
  • When one parent accuses the other parent of kidnapping, endangering, neglecting, or interfering with the custody or visitation of their child.
  • When one parent is arrested or convicted of a crime that affects their parental rights or responsibilities in child custody, visitation, support, or adoption.
  • When a child is arrested or charged with a crime that affects their status as a minor or their relationship with their parents or guardians.

How can an attorney help me with family and criminal law issues?

  • Providing you with legal advice and guidance on your rights and options.
  • Representing you in court hearings and negotiations with the other party or the prosecutor.
  • Protecting your interests and advocating for your goals.
  • Preparing and filing the necessary documents and evidence.
  • Explaining the legal process and the possible outcomes.
  • Advising you on the potential consequences and implications of your decisions.

If you are facing a legal issue that involves both Family and Criminal law, you should seek the assistance of an attorney who has experience and knowledge in both areas of law. A qualified attorney can help you navigate the complex and often overlapping legal systems and achieve the best possible result for your case.
